The Maui fire fueled by Dora story took over the news on August 9, and again, was all about 127.

Interesting how they did not pay the first half of this years 2023 taxes.
In Hawaii, if property taxes are not paid, the county can auction off the property.

Mayor Richard Bissen announced Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, that fiscal year 2023-2024 property taxes will be waived for improved properties completely destroyed by the Maui Wildfire Disaster in Upcountry, Kihei, and Lahaina. This applies only to improved properties that were completely destroyed. Improved properties were not vacant land and have a record under “Improvement Information” or “Commercial Improvement Information”.
If taxes have already been paid, refunds will be issued to the payer by October 31, 2023.
If you believe your improved property has been destroyed by the Wildfires and is not noted as “Destroyed 823” under Parcel Information on this website for the tax map key (TMK), you may file an Application for Disaster Remission of Properties
