Alphonso Smith, former Denver Bronco and Detroit Lion, dead at 40, September 2, 2026
Alphonso Smith, drafted by the Broncos, is dead at age 40.
Alphonso Smith is dead just before the season kicks off that will end with Super Bowl 61 (Alphonso Smith=61).
He played for the Denver Broncos and the Detroit Lions (Detroit Lions=61).
The Broncos QB, Bo Nix, played in a record 61 games in college.
And it is a reminder of Chris Paul, who lost his grandfather at age 61, the day he signed with Wake Forest, the same school that Alphonso Smith went to.
Remember, there is a lot of tributes to 1999 since the Knicks beat the Spurs in the NBA Finals, and Tim Duncan, the star of the Spurs in 1999, also went to Wake Forest (New York Knicks=61).
