It’s amazing that Chris Singleton played 146-games for the Cubs minor league team for other reasons too. This is because I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about the Chicago Cubs and 146 for years. Go through my numerous posts on the Cubs and 146 on freetofindtruth.blogspot.com. As you’ll find, there are a lot.
The most notable example is when the Cubs clinched the NL Central in their 146th game, in their 146th year of existence, having been established in 1870 as the Chicago White Stockings.
